CFW TAKEOVER - DAY 2

Starting off day two of Copenhagen Fashion Week did none less than Danmarks Designskole, the Danish school of design in Copenhagen. The many students which had studied their final year at the fashionable school did surprisingly well, I think. I only disliked one of the designer's works, but that wasn't because it was poorly executed or thought-through, it was just the designer's personal style which was interesting to observe anyway.

There were plenty of different styles walking down the catwalk yesterday morning. Harlequin, retro, pin-up, hobo, grunge etc. etc. It seemed to be an endless walk of style & personality this time! & not only enough with this, but all the colors, the fabrics, the shapes.. Every piece was unique & completely created by the designer behind it, something I appreciated very much.

Even though the collection consisting of 75 outfits at total had so many different styles, colors, shapes & fabrics in it it worked surprisingly well all together. Maybe it was the bland runway, maybe the outfit-follow did it, or maybe it was just that it was so clearly a mash-up that did it, I don't know. Anyhow - it worked!

The second designer of day 2 must have been my favourite. Benedikte Utzon's collection was the fiercest I've seen so far in this Copenhagen Fashion Week. The contrasts between the Asian-, Arabic-, European- & Scandinavian influences was blasting! Different cultures & traditions were mixed together into this magnificent show, however the Scandinavian simplicity was present in every garment, being the main-contrast against all the influences in this collection. The during the show also helped to make these looks come out as magnificent and quite infinite. Just see for yourself below:

Beautiful, isn't it? The make up was also my favourite for the three day long week. The eyebrows was as fierce as something could be & the pale ads in nude colors just strengthened the royally fierce feeling about the clothing & accessories. Bravo!

The next highlight of day two was Tabernacle Twins. Designer Vide Lundemark explored the world of colors & shapes with her creations. Getting inspiration from the 60's she hooked on a trend which has been in the fashion atmosphere for quite a while now, but made it completely her own & unique. She also hooked on the trend of culture. In some garments there were for example clear influences of native American culture, however she also took this trend to transform it into a new devision, her devision. Take a look below.

The color-palette was in my opinion beyond amazing. The retro-inspired gloomy tones of yellow & pink was so well mixed with the fresh ads of citrus, orange & gold. The primitive prints in black & white contrasting each  other Vide used alongside with the color-bombed garments made this collection even more exciting. There were so much to watch at, all the time. If not the blowing made-up, then the fierce black wedges. If not the striking ruffles of a dress, then the crazy prints of a sleeveless shirt. There were much, however, it was also just enough.

Next up was Soulland by Silas Adler, one of the two designers who got the honor to create a stamp for the Danish postal service, read more about that here.

Silas menswear collection was ever so sophisticated! He used classical shapes & garments, such as white shirts & jersey pants. The clothing was however very retro, but with a modern twist. The thought you had in your mind while observing them was 60's USA, with college sweaters & a sporty style over it all! However as said, it all kept a modern touch, as with the floral-printed shirt below.

The other designers which I didn't bring up in this post but which presented their collections today was Magnus Löppe, Wackerhaus, Jean//Phillip, Veronica B. Vallenes, Stine Goya, Bruuns Bazaar, Munthe plus Simonsen, Designers Remix & lastly Baum und Pferdgarten. You can check out all the entire collection right here.

CFW Takeover - Fashionably Stamped!

As Kimberly so sincere introduced to you all in the recent post I, Linus, will hold a fashion takeover this week, posting reviews, news, interviews & much more about the ongoing Copenhagen Fashion Week! Without any further introduction, I present to you:

CFW TAKEOVER - FASHION STAMP

'Snailmail has never been more chic! For the first time ever, Denmark's postal service, Post Danmark, has solicited special stamps to celebrate Danish fashion. The two designers behind the new stamps, unveiled Tuesday Aug 4, are Malene Birger and Soulland's Silas Adler. Swing by By the Malene Birger store in Antoniagade to buy the stamps and send a special greeting to your loved ones.'

What you've read above is what the Copenhagen Fashion Week team has to say about this new collaboration between the Danish postal office & the Scandinavian fashion festival. As stated there, two lucky designers attending the week has got the privilege to create Danish postal stamps for the country's postal service Post Danmark. This is an honor not many, if anyone at all, would deny.

The chosen designers to do this was Melene Birger & Silas Adler. What you see both above & below are photographs taken of Silas, in his studio, meanwhile creating his stamp. Adler's inspirations for the stamp was what the fashion industry calls accessories - ties, shoes, hats, pocket watches etc. As you can see at the pictures above the details are microscopic & did most likely take hours of thinking & execution to make.

Silas Adler presented his collection for Soulland today at 20:00 Danish time. A review of it will be posted here tomorrow, alongside with other highlights of today's collections presented. The postal stamp was however on sale ever since yesterday in the Soulland-shops, other Danish shops where postal stamps can be found as well as on the internet, click here if you wish to buy it.

Malene Birger was as said the other designer to receive the honor. Her collection will be presented for the Scandinavian & world-wide fashion elite to observe & admire. This talented Dane chose to go simpler. Focusing on the framing she used one of her black & white sketches in her stamp. Personally this is my favourite of the two. It's very simple in it's edging shapes of sharp contrasts, however I'm in love with how the black takes different tones & thereby making it look very alive & playful, even though no colors are used.
