Diamonds: Are they Really a Girl's Best Friend?

Hey all, Lana here with my very first blog post! I can't believe no-one's noticed this yet, or if they have, I must have missed it. Anyway, Polished recently released a collection to coincide with Stardoll's very own graphic novel, Sea of Stars. In amongst the (questionable) polishes, was this little beauty.

That, on the bottle, would be the 'Royalty' diamond. As a royalty member myself, I don't know how to feel about this. Free nail polish, which is nice enough - if you forget the stigma attached to it. For a long time now, there has been favouritism between Superstars and Non-Superstars, a gap that the starcoin system was supposed to bridge. While there may be a small, weak bridge between the two there now, the prospect of Stardoll releasing even more royalty items is worrying. This could be the first step to separating us loyal Stardollians even further, into a third group, one that would make the Superstars feel the inadequacies of Non-Superstardom. Of course, there was the Royalty club, but is this a second nail into the Royalty coffin?

One can only hope not - that's not what we pay for. Superstars pay for the privilege of getting more exclusive items, and if Stardoll are making items even Superstars can't buy, we might as well stop paying for it at all.

What do you think about the prospect of Royalty-friendly items?

  1. I notcied that, too and I also thought, why doesn't anyone write about it?! :P so I'm glad you did!

Well, I was kinda shocked when I saw it first. I mean, I for one usually buy a superstar membership for 1 or 2 months and then I have a few weeks without ss. It takes me a lot time to reach royalty. And what about new members? I really think this is a step backwards. I don't know if I should even buy another superstar membership if it isn't 'enough' money for them. Do they really need us to spend the money for one year, just to get this item? Ridiculous.

  2. I totally agree with you Melinda!

Also, I'd really hate it if they started making shops with only royalty items. Yeah, they have paid for Superstar and are Royalty, but it shouldn't really go further than that.

  3. I see what you mean Lana, but this was free so no one is really paying anything!

I bet it is just to show that they appreciate the people who pay a little more to be SR than the ones who pay for SS!

If they start releasing SR things that we have to pay for, I will start to worry too!

  4. I think this royalty-thing has gone overboard. I mean, sure they appreciate long-paying members, but still. Creating three classes of members is just wrong on a kids site, it gives them wrong perspectives for their future lives. I don't think stardoll realizes how many they actually affect with what they do, I mean, it's over 110 millions of people, mostly very young & very easy to affect.

  5. Yes, you're paying for it. You pay for it buy buying superstar in any of its forms, whether you're like me and buy it every 4 weeks or so or whether you're a long term subscriber.

My point is, we pay for the privilege of being superstar, so there should be NO seperation between Royalty and Superstars at the end of the day. We're one and the same, except one of us has a diamond.

I suppose it could just be me that sees it this way...
