Stardoll Fashion Week - Controversy?

When I heard about this project I was actually very thrilled to see that something kind of new was going on. Don't get me wrong, I still am happy about this project, but the THRILLED part has worn off. And here are my reasons as to why.

Stardoll Fashion Week is a project lead or sponsored by a notorious group called, Fashion Group - we all know them, right? To sum it up, it's a project to showcase and help upcoming fashion designers get their 'big break'. IF your line is liked, you could have the chance to have it featured in Eternity Magazine as well as a fashion show. Then the news was brought up about the winners line being feature in our very own Starplaza!

To be honest, though, I am not really keeping up with this project has much as I should for you guys - but I do have an opinion on it. A very developed and educated one. I love the whole idea of a fashion week on Stardoll, I do - I do. It's fun and fresh.

Just listen. I have a friend who is lets just say, 'known' on Stardoll. They contacted the Stardoll Staff about designing a line for the plaza itself, they agreed - practically worshiped the idea. So they did make the line and sent it over to the Stardoll Staff, but they wrote back explaining that it was in the wrong formant (no further details). They remade the line, adding a little touches here and there - sent them the line again. Years have went by and the line has never emerged in the shops here on Stardoll. Kind of confusing, but bare with me.

On Fashion Group's website, it states that they are in talks with 'Stardolls graphics designers and creative directors'. With that being said, unlike the person I was talking about (above) - who was going to have their line looked over and placed into the plaza - nothing added or reduced from by the workers over at Stardoll. Then, if you think about what I just said earlier about how the folks over at SFW are in talked with the graphics designers and what not. It seems to me like once they pick a winner and the designs are sent to the staff - they will be redesigned for the plaza. Basically, using the pieces for inspiration only.

Another thing I am worried about, is the fact that the winning designs featured at Stardoll Fashion Week will also have a chance to be featured in Eternity Magazine. That is a great opportunity for the creator and the magazine. You know what I mean, saves the work for the workers! Last time I heard, 'E' was looking for graphics designers.

I get it, to even have been inspired by a piece in the Starpaza is amazing - but what I am trying to get at is, I hope people don't spend to much time working on graphics, thinking that their exact design is going to be showcased for all to see. And then again, I could be totally wrong - I would not mind being proved wrong either.

With a project this big I can see it easily going down the drain or not even 'taken care of'. Hopefully everyone that works there receives the credit they deserve. No where is there any information listed about the workers at the group, Fashion Group - it is a group - not a single - I do not know. Hopefully I can be proved wrong. Because of course, now that all this was said - do you not think it will not be taken into consideration?

  3. Well, I enjoy reading what you just wrote, and I also agree, I remember Style_Magazine was trying to get Stardoll Staff to sale a shirt she designed and they didn't.

I still have the picture of her shirt.:)

    TTT's Number 1 Follow! Lol

  4. Yes, that is indeed true. She did get her own shop - the designs were copied though as we all know. Making Stardoll probably a lot more aware of projects they take on.

I never said it wouldn't happen, I just said that rather then designing something so triumphantly, it would be different opposed to sketching out something.

  5. I know who that person is, they were talking to me about it before, the designs were amazing..
I don't know whether to trust Stardoll here or not - I doubt Fashion Group would lie about that, but it's up to the SD staff to get their asses to work, really. Permitting that they do, this is a great opportunity for aspiring fashion designers like myself :)

  6. Mary has her ways though...I mean she won't give up til those designs are in the starplaza :DD

Btw, who is the girl who sent in the designs?

  7. @looc123

Her name was Migliukee. She copied designs from paperfashion (paperfashion.wordpress.com).

  8. No, that is not the person we are talking about. They will remain anonymous.

  9. Tyler:

I think I will start off with a quote.

"I am leaving the social, elite scene.."

I would classify this post as part of the social, elite scene.
So, basically I want to tell you that you are a hypocrite. Didn't you move out of Dollywood?

  10. Call me a hypocrite.

    Stardoll FASHION week.

    This is a fashion blog.

I am not writing about the prissy little drama that everyone is surrounded by.

  11. No, you are now trying to start some by saying that you might not actually win anything from this competition.
Well that is a step up.

  12. Tyler, I actually see the point in your words, but IDK if they give another 'tryers' their personal emails. I am tuning with a girl named Lena atm, she is from the staff, and I hope they will consider the whole idea - and why not to try?

Also - I don't get why 'Do not try on graphics much, guys, they will change it" - Tyler, are you out of your mind? The graphics should be as good as possible so SD considers it and they will REDRAW everything, because users make a different format of graphics at all - if you don't get a letter in the word 'graphics' then don't speak about that.
And - about the 'less work for the GD of Eternity' - shit, Tyler, we will redraw things for the magazine too, poses are changed and so are the sizes! Also that's not ONLY for Eternity - Fierce, Runway are in already too, and any magazine, which is interested in SD fashion scene.

I don't like when people talk about something they don't know about, and that's that case.

But in general - I know how SD 'considers' us and our hopes are huge. At least we're trying and trying very hard.

  13. I get you Mary, but you cannot argue about the fact that my point is valid. If you are going to go into this field you should be able to take constructive criticism and I am glad that you finally can.

I see you are already thinking more into this project and I hope that you continue on with it and it becomes a big part of Stardoll history. Good luck.

  14. Thanks.

Don't see the criticism though. I just know what SD can do and can't do.
