Farewell May!

As we bid farewell to May and welcome June I though it may be time to give you some updates on everything going on at Today's Top Trends.

-TTT FASHION WEEKEND
TTT FW is due to go ahead in early July, with the majority of the schedule taken up, with most fashion lines and magazines just waiting for confirmation. The schedule is due to appear sometime in June, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Alongside this we will have an add, which will be shown on the blog shortly before the schedule is released.

-FASHION SIGN UPS
Rather than scouting random people for segments such as 'What were you thinking?' and 'best dressed', we will instead be putting up sign ups to enter. This means, when signing up, you are aware of the risk of going on WWYT, but also have the chance to be featured on best dressed, which will be a fortnightly to monthly segment. The signs up will be posted in June sometime, before any other WWYT or best dressed posts.

Thank you for a wonderful May, and I hope TTT still continues its success into the month of June!

REVIEW: Risqué Debut

With the current halt in Stardoll magazines it is always a pleasure to welcome new magazines onto the scene. Risque magazine, owned by Hilmy, celebrated the release of their first issue on Wednesday and today the debut issue will be put to the test to see just how good it is.

Graphic Design: 7/10 Risque would have scored higher if they stuck to one graphic designer for this issue. Although variety is nice it's always important to keep everything flowing and sadly the graphic designers hired for Risque were all at different levels. Lullih made the vast majority of the images used in the magazine which were all of wonderful quality, however there were also graphics created by Jack, Khol and Helen. Helen's and  surprisingly, Jack's graphics shown in the issue were not as strong and didn't fit into the magazine as well as the others.

Fashion Editorial:  5/10 Sadly, there wasn't a real flow in the debut issue of Risque. There is no denying that the magazine boasts numerous interesting articles and graphics but none of these were shown in a set editorial, aside from  two male model graphics.

Trends Shown: 9/10 There were three pages dedicated to trends, with the main focus on shoes and peplum. There was also a feature on beauty tips which was separated by another two random graphics. Overall Risque managed to show a good set of trends, but without the flow in the magazine it doesn't show as well.

Writing Style: 7/10 There is no denying that there are some interesting articles in Risque, and I'm always glad to have some reading material in such a graphic driven magazine world, however the writing styles shown were not of amazing standard.

Overall Layout: 7/10 The overall layout of Risque was not amazing, but the magazine definitely shows a lot of room for improvement and boasts some aspects that many magazines now lack. If Hilmy can focus on the few points that need minor to moderate improvement then I am positive he can make Risque one of the best magazines out there.

HBW #17 - Beach Trip

Another week, another set of hot buys, and this time around Stardoll have created four Beach inspired items, alongside a fair isle type knit sweater dress.

The first item of this week is the Hot Buys Sea Dress, priced at a mere 13 stardollars. The quality is surprisingly good and this dress is a steal compared to what older monthly Hot Buys were selling for. It is a very simple item, but it could be used as a simple yet staple piece in your wardrobe.

Next up we have the Hot Buys Leopard Tank Top, which you can find in the starplaza for 12 stardollars. It is slightly  expensive for what it is but the colours, reasonable quality and the wearability lured me into buying this. I can imagine using this on numerous occasions to spice up what would be simple outfits.

The Hot Buys Neon Beach Shoulder Bag (9 stardollars) is the sole accessory of this week. I like the principles and design of this bag but the quality let me down slightly. There is no real shading on it, but the interesting print and colour once again, similar to the leopard top, made me purchase this.

The Hot Buys Beach Shorts, priced at 11 stardollars, are an interesting addition to this week's selection of Hot Buys and are certainly not something I can say that I have seen on Stardoll before. Saying this I actually quite like them as they are well made, although the logos imprinted on them could make them quite hard to work into an outfit.

Finally we have the Hot Buys Tribe Dress, which is easily the most random addition to these Hot Buys. It doesn't really match the beach theme too much because of it's print and in the graphic it is just shoved into the background (it is a nice graphic however). It is priced at 15 stardollars so it is the most expensive Hot Buy of this week, even though the quality is probably the worst out of all the items, due to it's lack of shading and blurry print.

What did you think of this week's Hot Buys? Comment below.

Voile Graduation - Picks

Today a new Voile collection was released, this time with the theme of graduation. Although this new floor isn't the best there is still some wonderful must have pieces and today I am going to be sharing with you my picks from the collection.

1. Graduation Dress (120sc)
2. Diploma Veil (76sc)
3. Turquoise Graduation Shoes (4sd)
4. Gold Star Sandals (6sd)

My first pick is the graduation dress, which is a simple white dress with a gold belt that can be used in a lot of different outfits. It's very wearable and versatile and easy to cover up the gold belt if you don't want it. Second we have the diploma veil, which I really love. It's very simple but it goes beautifully over some dresses! Lastly we have the two shoes which are my favourite things from this Voile collection. They are simple, once again, but I have been looking for colourful staple shoes for my wardrobe for quite a while and these are perfect to fill that duty. Both pairs are very versatile and summery and I can't wait to wear and incorporate them into an outfit soon.

What do you think about this Voile collection?

What Were They Thinking? #2

DISCLAIMER: Before you start rambling on about how I can't judge anyone because my style is 'crap'. This is not real life, and every fashion blog needs a worst dressed segment.

We've all experienced bad outfits some point in our lives, I know I have! However, is there really a time where your outfit is so bad that it should be burnt and buried without a send off? Unfortunately, there is.

Take a look at the worst dressed medoll's of the week below...

Ashley_Doggett
Kimberly: Safari hour? You look like you're going for that Socialite look with that Birkin, leopard print, and them platforms and I guess you really captured it. Some of your outfits are extraordinary, but I just can't get past that damn hat.

Khol: You look like a mix between a lion and a leopard on its period. That hat? Don't even go there. I'm not really a fan of your everyday style but today you look wrong on so many levels, that dress must be the most tackiest dress I've ever seen, not even a drag queen would wear it. I love how you add the Birkin to finish off the look. Well, no... It makes it look even worse.  What were you thinking?

Mvm2807
Kimberly: I'm actually really torn between this outfit. It's incredibly mismatched and I have no idea if it looks okay or not because my eyes are too confused to work it out. At least you'll be warm in Russia?

Khol: Oh Maria, you used to be one of the most fashionable people I know! What on earth happened? I know you're not really active any more but you look like a jacket potato! This outfit is so mismatched it's scary. I know it's cold in Russia but come on girl!  What were you thinking?

Jelinna
Kimberly: I normally love your outfits but I have no idea what it is that's going on here. I see where you could have been going for, but I think the translation was lost through the overused platform boots and them suspenders. On a plus note your suite and medoll are beautiful!

Khol: Christina you normally dress so nice, but today? Nuh-uh! You look like you are about to start work  in a safari park and that skirt does not look good at all. I'm so fed up of seeing those pleather platforms, and those socks - make it stop! What were you thinking?

MissFoxyRoxy913

Kimberly: I have no idea what's going on but it needs to stop.
Khol: Oh My God. What were you thinking?

Lipstick: The Final Issue

Back in December, the notorious Lipstick Magazine posted a rather intriguing ad. Other than mine and Kim's (xxlovexx) comment on the post, no one seemed the least bit interested.

Now going on it's second year of a hiatus status, and the summer months are seemingly growing closer, the question still remains: Will there still be "The Finale" of Lipstick?

Laura (Lizs), the now-owner of the magazine has been MIA for over the past month. While logic claims this finale won't happen, and was just simply an idea lost, however, I still remain optimistic.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think the Summer issue of Lipstick is still a go? Either vote in the poll below, or leave your comments.

HBW #16 - Spring Prints

"With this week´s Hot Buys we want to bring you sur la monté de marche.  Are you going to the photo call with a simple springy outfit like Audrey Tatou, or are you channeling your bling ring girl and pick a glittering combo? Which outfit will you choose for your début sur la Croisette?"

The first item of this week, which is also many people's favourite from the bunch, is the Hot Buys Disco Collar Top. With a simple and wearable design and a reasonable price of 14 stardollars, this top is a must buy. It boasts actual shading, rather than the gradient effect Stardoll have preferred to use in recent months for many of their clothes and the collar adds the fun to an otherwise simple design.

The next item is the Pleather Fringed Skirt, which I am slightly on the fence about. Although I enjoy the design and concept I find it to be ever so slightly ill fitting and it looks kind of frumpy on my doll without the correct styling. I'm also unsure about the design of the fringe, but I let the negatives slip as I also purchased this, at the price of 12 stardollars.

Next we have the Hot Buys City Lights Sequin Dress at a price of 18 stardollars. This is a very nice minidress and is, like the other Hot Buys, the first items we have seen in quite a while that are not neon or PVC. Although the quality isn't amazing it's still a strong piece and another item I can definitely see myself wearing at some point.

Penultimately is the Hot Buys Cannes Top (9 stardollars), the top half to go along with the Hot Buys Cannes Skirt (11 stardollars. Although I'm a fan of the print I was slightly reluctant to buy because of the way it sits on the doll. The top's straps are odd and put me off purchasing the item, even though they could be covered with hair or a jacket. Next is the skirt, which at first seems like a big frumpy bit of material, however, styled correctly, can look very nice. I decided to pick it up due to it's intricate print, hoping that I can one day make it look good, but I can understand anyone who does not like the item.

I ended up purchasing 4 out of 5 items this time around, which I think is the most I've ever purchased in one collection. Many people have complained about the graphics of this HBW, but as no quality standard has yet been set and the designs and techniques are all over the place I'm purely going on the basis of the items. I quite like the way that everything this time around actually look like clothes rather than neon gradient material but each to their own. What do you think of this week's selection of Hot Buys? Hit or miss?

Antidote: Hit or Miss

In an attempt to redeem myself here as writer, I'm finding it practically a challenge to give Stardoll a good name. That said, the new collection of Antidote has arrived. With expectations seemingly low as the Titanic, it came to no surprise when an array of super shiny objects made way to the starplaza.

Featured above is the second of four pages of the new Antidote collection. Right off the bat, I've accompanied the brand with more than a few terms, those of which include: juvenile, farfetched, and completely, without a doubt exaggerated.

It's no wonder that there's a redundant amount of fashion lines - user made, of course - sprouting in order to redeem Stardoll's once majestic quality. If you haven't already complained about the absoultely awful graphics of Antidote yet, feel free to let out a long breath of frustrated air.

Even stranger, though? It appears that Stardoll couldn't help but add a trend that is already a year old into the mix.

A floor, that quite frankly is my favorite out of the collection, doesn't even match the naïve vibe of the previous three pages. If it weren't for my current non-ss status, I'd probably purchase these set of clothing - excluding those hideous furniture items, might I add. I just find it extremely odd to incorporate an entirely new theme into the line. Those are questions I'll never know...

While I'll certainly be giving this collection a big thumbs down, I want to know TTT's general opinion on the ninth - correct me if it's wrong - edition of Antidote.

Editorial Pick

I'm really mixing it up this month with lots of picks, not just because I am getting into the music festival/ summer/surf mood, but also because I am so so busy with work that I can't work in enough time to really get a handle on my reviews - but expect them to return in mid June/ July-ish! Today is the editorial pick, which describes my mood right now: Be prepared!

ARE YOU READY FOR SUMMER YET?

Fashion Review: Acid

The fashion line Acid owned by Khol (hollyoaksrocks*) has released it's debut collection, a summer 2013 ready-to-wear line, which you can view by clicking here.

At first glance this collection struck me as a very basic but stylish collection and I continue to stick by this, however as you look closer into the collection itself it is easier to see the flaws.

First of all, it is extremely basic, almost to the point of not passing for a full summer collection. I also found a lot of it reminiscent to older Stardoll clothing, such as the beanie, plain tees from Basics, some shoes from Pretty in Love and the cap recently released in Original Future. I didn't mind the one model but I would have preferred to seen some other faces, as well as a runway background to set off the 10 outfits.

The 90s inspired collection didn't really scream 90s to me and the only items that strongly reminded me of the era were the two tie dye items shown at the beginning of the collection.

I, for one, am a huge fan of Khol's exciting style and I enjoy visiting her suite to see what outfit she has conjured up for the day, however this collection has left me slightly disappointed. I can only begin to think of how exciting this collection could be but instead it is just above the level of mediocre. Saying this, I did enjoy numerous pieces and found some pieces and prints very interesting.

I'm excited to see what Khol has to offer for the next collection of Acid and I'm hoping that it's able to grow from the criticism and deliver an outstanding second edition full of creative ideas and pieces.

The magazine is set to be released very soon and is bound to be a success. I definitely recommend for everyone to follow the blog as updates will be coming very soon.

PMR: Glamour Magazine

*PMR - Past Magazine Reviews*
I continually find myself wondering whether the old and original magazines of Stardoll, such as Style, Eternity and Fierce, really were better than the few magazines that stand in the current day Stardoll. Today, magazines from the hey day of Stardoll will be put to the test to see if they really are that much better than the issues of today.

Glamour Magazine, owned by Dodence_bt, was a magazine that began in March 2009, with 2 issues to date. Today, the second 'Louis Vuitton' themed issue will be ranked, reviewed and rated to see if it comes up to scratch with the other magazines around of then and now.

Click the image to view the magazine

Graphic Design: 8/10 There's no denying that Mario is an incredibly talented graphic designer, and he still was back almost four years ago in July 2009. There is still room for improvement of course, and you can see quite a difference in quality between the warrior photo shoot and Louis Vuitton editorial. The shading on doll's faces is phenomenal, which is a part of graphics many forget about now. Roi World and I-dressup hairs are used in the magazine, alongside regular Stardoll poses, but this does not take away from the overall beauty of the design.

Fashion Editorial: 10/10 Glamour Magazine has content and that somehow seems to be missing from almost every magazine around in the current day. There's an interesting article alongside the warrior styled shoot and three beautiful Louis Vuitton graphics to go with the article. The ideas are good and the theme of Louis Vuitton is prominent throughout the entire magazine.

Trends Shown: 10/10 As well as the two articles and shoots from previously in the magazine, there is also a three page spread on current trends, including fringed clothes, jewels and and boyfriend jeans. Not only is there a spread there is also articles on each of the different trends which is an added bonus to those who enjoy content as well as pretty graphics.

Writing Style: 9/10 The writing style is great however proof reading and checking the articles wouldn't go a miss as there is some punctuation mistakes, which can easily be found in most magazines however. I particularly liked the 'Warrior In You' article and found myself continuing to read through it all, which isn't something I tend to do with current magazines. The Louis Vuitton article was also interesting but the covergirl interview lacked excitement and was based too tightly on LV.

Overall Layout: 8/10 The ratio of one graphic to one article is good as it gives an equal amount of content and graphics although I would have possibly liked a few more graphics, or an additional editorial, on the side. I also found the same colour of background continually being used slightly boring as there are other ways to keep things cohesive without using the same background.

How did this magazine score?
45 out of 50,  at 90% or A-

HBW #15 - Accessory Minimalism

This week we were presented with a set of five minimalistic accessories for the release of the latest Hot Buys Weekly, with an abundant   amount of white and silver being used.

The first items of this week are the Hot Buys Architectural Sandals which are, in my opinion, very average. I do like the concept of  the shoe, especially the clear PVC strip, but the odd heel and mediocre quality put me off. I'm once again disappointed with the quality of the shoes, and although I'm glad Stardoll did not use their overused gradient affect, I still feel that more effort could have been put into the overall design. I'm unsure if I will purchase these currently as I am still unsure if the positives outweigh the negatives.

Next up is another pair of shoes, this time being the Hot Buys Silver Shoes. I'm pleasantly surprised by these and I think they look very wearable and versatile. The quality is reasonable and the only thing possibly me off is the odd heel, which is barely noticeable when worn.

Thirdly are the the Hot Buys Sunnies, which are a rather interesting pair of sunglasses. I like the concept of these but I question their wearability as I'm finding it hard to make them look good on my doll. For now I won't be purchasing but I will go back to them for a final look before the release of the next set of Hot Buys.

The Hot Buys Aristographic Clutch is probably my least favourite of the bunch this week due to it's awful graphic quality. It genuinely looks like something a beginner could make in Gimp or Photoshop and I'm surprised that it ever made it to the window at the starplaza. It lacks real shading which is made up for by a gradient on the purse, alongside an average and blurry bevelled effect. I will definitely not be buying.

Finally the Hot Buys See Through Purse, which was my favourite of this week. It's very trendy and current and I like how Stardoll added the glasses and iPhone to it. Although the quality of the purse is mediocre and it lacks real shading and dimension, I will still be purchasing as I sort of love it... Oops!

What did you think of this week's Hot Buys?

Versus Debut, JW Anderson

My Favourite Look from
Anderson-Versus Collaboration.
Jonathan Anderson, the Irish born fashion designer, made his Versus debut yesterday, with a star studded front row featuring Lady Gaga and Heidi Klum. Anderson is known for his strange eye for futuristic clothing, yet wearable for day-to-day use. The Versus-Anderson collection has been highly anticipated in the fashion world for many months now, and excitement grew ever since the brand officially confirmed the collaboration. But has the wait been worth it?

The collection featured a very minimal approach with most of the collection featuring black & white with little sparks of bold colours of pink to blue and a few geometric prints.

Collection Pros; Throughout the collection, a black ‘VERSUS’ sticker which featured in almost every look, I thought was quite unique and could possibly be sold individually for customers to customise their chosen Versus merchandise. One of the most important thing about this collection was the constant flow of the techniques of Anderson, the brand & Donatella herself– by examining each look, we can clearly see that the two collaborated successfully. Another wonderful thing about the collaboration is the shapes of the dresses. I’m in love with the simple shapes of the collection; The shapes were very summery with pretty cut-outs around the stomach area which gives a youthful spirit to the collection. & Finally, the bold block colours are what, I thought made the collection.

My Least Favourite Look from
Anderson-Versus Collaboration.
Collection Cons; Normally I’m a huge fan of Versace [Versus] leather, but honestly, I'm not feeling the leather from this collection. Personally, I find the leather used quite cheap; the items did not look expensive, they looked extremely cheap, and tacky, which I was pretty upset about. Another con about this collection was the men’s wear, honestly? As a ready-to-wear collection, it should be wearable for anyone in the outside world, and I don't feel as though they could be worn without getting looks from everyone, in a horrible way. Over the past few seasons, I found the use of lace quite boring – we've seen it, now bring us something new. Jason Wu uses a lot of lace which, I find comes across cheaply, although, the lace used didn’t have the same effect. It came across expensive. I found it really elegant, but I felt as though it didn't quite fit in along with the rest of the collection. And you know lace & leather equals to street hooker.

In the coming seasons, let’s hope JW Anderson & Versus collaborate again, and bring us something a lot more original & hopefully wearable to the public. In total, I give this collection 7/10.

Eamonn's Chaos To Couture - Gala Recap

[I know this post has already been done my Khol, but like she said, that's her opinion, and I would like to give mine]

Monday 6th of May was one of the most fashionable nights on the fashion calendar, the MET GALA. All the stars were out in support of their chosen fashion designers to pay honour to this years extravagant theme; ‘Punk: Chaos To Couture’. Each year, I get super excited about streaming the red carpet event live from my bedroom, watching some of the world’s biggest models, celebrities, and fashion designers grace the unnecessary long steps into the exhibition room to where the exciting event is taking place, but hey? The red carpet is the most exciting moment of the night.

Honestly, I was quite disappointed in the majority of the celebrities joining the eagerly anticipated event of the year, for instance; Kristen Stewart, if possible this year’s theme was made for her; edgy, fresh and punk, all things Stewart is. And of course, Nicki Minaj – I know she is trying to transcend from a kuku-doll to a well respected female rapper, but once again, this could have been her year to pull out all of the stops, but unfortunately, she had to settle for this incredibly tacky Tommy Hilfiger, and to be quite frank; she looks more ghetto than “punky”.

- Eamonn's Best Dressed List (annotated) -

Rooney Mara wore this outrageous costume gown from Givenchy by the man of the night, Riccardo Tisci. Mara was one of the first to hit the carpet along with Tisci on her arm, and I must say, I wasn't disappointed. Everything about this dress is phenomenal, although if I were to nitpick I would much rather the sleeves to be at least two inches shorter.

In total, I give this look 9/10

Cara Delevingne has one of the world’s funniest and sweetest personalities, and her outfit at this year’s Gala makes her the perfect girl. Cara was dressed head-to-toe in Burberry which wasn't too surprising. Miss Vogue’s debut covergirl looked all things edgy and sexy in this floor length studded dress. Cara accessorised her look with Dominic Jones and Eddie Borgo jewellery, but unfortunately, I thought the clutch bag was too much for the entire look. I thought it was too big and too bha! Although, Delevingne could have added a little mirrored cuboid clutch to improve her look. Hair & make-up, beautiful.

In total, I give this look 9/10
Another beauty at the affair, Beyoncé Knowles. Beyoncé was one of the chairmen of the event alongside fellow designer Riccardo Tisci, who is the wonderful creator of Queen B’s look. Beyoncé received a lot of criticism about this look – but I must say, am I the only one who actually likes the look in its entirety?  Well, I must say, there could have some adjustments made to the styling side of things. After a long time of examine B’s look, I found a few flaws that could have been prevented. The belt I love, but wouldn't it look much better if it was slimmer; as it'll make her waist look slimmer? Beyoncé and Kim K both sported the same trend wearing matching gloves, which honestly, I did not like. I thought it was too much as both their looks were quite busy anyways so adding gloves wasn't necessary.

In total, I give this look 8/10

Once Upon a Time... by Karl Lagerfeld

I'm sure most of you have already seen it, since it has been announced 2 weeks ago on Facebook, I've been expecting this day so badly!
Yesterday has been showed Karl Lagerfeld's film about the 100th anniversary of the first Chanel boutique in Deauville. A master little movie directed by the one and only Karl, for fashion lovers. With the beautiful Keria Knightley as Gabrielle Chanel.

Enjoy!

What you think about this film?

Met Gala - Best and Worst Dressed (In my Opinion)

So last night was the 2013 Met Gala which saw the dress code: PUNK. Many of you will probably be thinking "strange!" but trust me, you will be shocked.

Let's start with Best Dressed;

Miley Cyrus - BEST DRESSED

Many of you will be hating my decision, But I absolutely LOVE this. I'm a massive fan of Miley's style and she just looks phenomenal in this Marc Jacobs fishnet dress. The hair is spot on too!
Punk Meter: 10/10

Anne Hathaway

Rocking her new blonde cut, Anne didn't fail to wow people with her new look.
Anne always looks stunning and I think the Blonde do is so gorgeous. She really did this Vintage Valentino dress justice.
Punk Meter: 8/10

Nicole Richie

Love it or Hate it, I think she looks amazing. Everyone is talking about the hair, I don't think it's permanent but it's quite cute. It doesn't really suit her skin tone very much, but hey, It's Nicole Richie! She was born to be a fashion icon!
Punk Meter: 8/10

Rooney Mara

Rooney looked exceptional with this gorgeous Givenchy dress, She really did the dress justice with her natural makeup, The dark lips really set the look off which made the overall look superb.
Punk Meter: 8/10

Worst Dressed;

Madonna - WORST DRESSED

Oh Madge, What are you doing?! Yes, you got the memo but whoa too much!
You have passed your sell by date and look horrendous don't even start me on the hair, oh dear lord!
Punk Meter: 6/10

Ashley Olsen

An Orange comes to mind when I look at this. Ashley what are you doing? You are supposed to be one of the most fashionable people on earth.
Punk Meter: 1/10

Gwyneth Paltrow

This was either going to be a major hit or a major miss, and you missed.
Not only is there no element of punk in this look, you look like a Quality Street.
Too pink Gwyneth!

This is just not a good look, The black netting is HIDEOUS, It really is a good job you are pretty because I'd dread to think what it would look like on an ugly person. Please, never wear anything like this ever again. Unless you are dressing up as a Pregnant Spider for Halloween.

Bag of the Day!

Thought BAG of the Day!

This Celine bag for $1750.00 costs a FORTUNE, but it's a bag we're completely crushing on. Sold out within days, other designers, such as 3.1 Phillip Lim has released bags of similar design, but nothing tops this bag. Hop down to your local boutique and pray there's one left on the shelf! Seen on celebs such as Kendall Jenner, Dakota Fanning, and Rosie Huntington-Whitely, this bag is the "IT" purchase of the season and seems to be on its way to becoming a classic staple.

Are you crushing on this bag? COMMENT!

I apologize for not posting recently, I'm currently finishing my final exams for the year and studying my brains out. Be ready next week for some hot new magazine reviews!
