Callie's Picks was a somewhat controversial store when it was first released - with Stardoll once again using their trusted method of rereleasing for the new shop. Two weeks on, and the second edition of the store has been released, this time paying homage to none other than denim.
Quite honestly, this release is surprisingly underwhelming. After a pretty solid first release and a cool vibe on the spoiler of the new edition - I was left disappointed with the higher prices and poor selection of items.
Quintessentially Callie's Picks is Stardoll's attempt at repackaging Archive so that they can charge higher prices and release items of moderate rarity (...not that they didn't already attempt that). Prices in this collection have sky rocketed to 40 stardollars and unsurprisingly there are a very small number of starcoin items which are mostly tagged at 100sc+.
What are your thoughts on the second release of Callie's Picks?

I have to say I have most of these items, one is a tribute item I bought in 2010, another one I bought for 2sd from starbazaar a long time ago, 3 of these were previously free items & most of it I bought from the shops. I don't mind these items coming back because I am tired of the rare culture & inflated prices in starbazaar. If people choose to buy & sell at inflated prices in starbazaar that's their business, I don't see how it should affect others who chose not to, I think that's why they made some of the prices higher than before but at least it's better than giving these out as free items & buying them at higher prices in starbazaar & it gives those who were around when these items were 1st released an advantage of lower prices.

DeleteI think the Archive store has been removed temporarily & would be brought back when Callie gets tired of her picks, after a while they'll get tired of sorting out themes, due to their laziness (lol). Callie's Picks is a bit different from the Archive store because it includes tribute items & temporary store collections, we never thought would be brought back. It's just one of stardoll's temporary phases, like the weekly & summer hot buys, fashion week collections, tribute shops & all those temporary shops they release (mod market). The monthly hot buys was brought back, even antidote has been removed a few times & brought back, suite shop items are brought back frequently, the archive store will definitely be back.
DeleteOn another note Stardoll starts projects & they just abandon them, look at downtown it hasn't been released for android users yet.
Excuse my Stardoll 'ignorance' - I've never really paid much attention to this sort of thing - but isn't the 'Belted Loop Sweater' a Mary Kate & Ashley rare? It kind of 'shocked' me to see it in stock.
ReplyDeleteAlso I do kind of like the concept of Callie's Picks (lbr it's just archive repackaged), but the denim selection, and the tartan selection for that matter, was rather uninspiring. There are ten mannequins in the shop - why can't a couple of those be wearing new outfits? The lack of newly-made stuff is genuinely astounding to me.
The Belted Loop Sweater was not a Mary Kate & Ashley rare. It was Tingeling Halloween Couture 2009. Still quite rare and certainly pricey, though.

ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of the new releases. The store doesn't look very uniform in concept besides the fact that 'denim' is the trend they are promoting.
ReplyDeleteI was loving the first release, but not with this disappointing one with astronomical pricing I can tell stardoll is going down the shitter even faster than normal. I swear to god, if and when they take away this store they better bring back archive. At least archive stores had some taste.

DeleteI guess it goes to show that money makes the Stardoll world run around to be honest. In a few years they might re-release MKA just to troll other users and everyone will have a Hermes birkin bag. It's all about meeting their consumer base and they are rubbing in the fact that users, who have paid real money for a lot of those items, can get screwed the fuck over. It's funny only because of the humility behind it all.
