Met Gala - Best and Worst Dressed (In my Opinion)

So last night was the 2013 Met Gala which saw the dress code: PUNK. Many of you will probably be thinking "strange!" but trust me, you will be shocked.

Let's start with Best Dressed;

Miley Cyrus - BEST DRESSED

Many of you will be hating my decision, But I absolutely LOVE this. I'm a massive fan of Miley's style and she just looks phenomenal in this Marc Jacobs fishnet dress. The hair is spot on too!
Punk Meter: 10/10

Anne Hathaway

Rocking her new blonde cut, Anne didn't fail to wow people with her new look.
Anne always looks stunning and I think the Blonde do is so gorgeous. She really did this Vintage Valentino dress justice.
Punk Meter: 8/10

Nicole Richie

Love it or Hate it, I think she looks amazing. Everyone is talking about the hair, I don't think it's permanent but it's quite cute. It doesn't really suit her skin tone very much, but hey, It's Nicole Richie! She was born to be a fashion icon!
Punk Meter: 8/10

Rooney Mara

Rooney looked exceptional with this gorgeous Givenchy dress, She really did the dress justice with her natural makeup, The dark lips really set the look off which made the overall look superb.
Punk Meter: 8/10

Worst Dressed;

Madonna - WORST DRESSED

Oh Madge, What are you doing?! Yes, you got the memo but whoa too much!
You have passed your sell by date and look horrendous don't even start me on the hair, oh dear lord!
Punk Meter: 6/10

Ashley Olsen

An Orange comes to mind when I look at this. Ashley what are you doing? You are supposed to be one of the most fashionable people on earth.
Punk Meter: 1/10

Gwyneth Paltrow

This was either going to be a major hit or a major miss, and you missed.
Not only is there no element of punk in this look, you look like a Quality Street.
Too pink Gwyneth!
Punk Meter: 0/10

Jessica Biel

This is just not a good look, The black netting is HIDEOUS, It really is a good job you are pretty because I'd dread to think what it would look like on an ugly person. Please, never wear anything like this ever again. Unless you are dressing up as a Pregnant Spider for Halloween.
Punk Meter: 4/10

  1. Actually I think that you missed Anna Wintour and Jennifer Lawrence in the best dressed, but nice post anyway!

    1. Anna's outfit was disgusting, and Jennifer's is okay but not best dressed worthy

  2. I'm disappointed in Madonna's outfit choice and the fact that Stardoll chose to release it in the Starplaza when there were so many other gorgeous gowns.

  3. Oh Anne, blonde hair? haha that was my though...I mean, I don't think it was a bad decision for Miley Cyrus to have blonde hair, but Anne Hathaway? Big mistake!

    random hair talk...

    1. Kim Kardashian looked like a couch, like no joke. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ox_I4V0bNVc/TbtFoUW8ssI/AAAAAAAAAAQ/NzQM4Y5Jalw/s1600/DSCN3298.JPG

    2. The theme wasn't stupid, I'm actually glad they picked that theme, Punk culture did big changes in the fashion industry and it wouldn't have been the same if Punk hadn't done an intervention where high fashion became monotonous.

    3. @laurenboy This is the best of the best and worst of the worst, I think Kim looked cute as she's pregnant. Beyonce's was horrid but I know a lot of people would of seen it already.

@manolo Totally agree with you! the theme was AMAZING!

  5. You can't imagine how glad I am you chose MIley Cyrus, I'm usually the first to loathe her punk-wannabee street style but THIS outfit was spot on. The fishnets + the hairdo + the red lips for a touch of 'Couture' = perfection imo.

My BD also included Cara Delevingne, Sienna Miller, Anja Rubik and Diane Kruger!

    1. Miley was so spot on with the theme, its almost surreal. Although the hair is weird-ish, it fits (and we've had our fair share of wack hairstyles..) I just think Miley actually had fun with the theme, unlike the monochromatic disasters of Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kristen Stewart.

    2. I wouldn't tag Kristen and Cameron as "monochromatic disasters" just because they didn't stick to the theme. Regardless Kristen didn't go for a punk dark look, she looked amazing and she has never looked better, she looked fierce and at least she didn't attend with her disastrous hair this year, and her make-up was gorgeous.

Cameron was looking beautiful creation by Stella McCartney, and I wish a had belt like hers.

    3. When you compare them to that of other guests who showed in up in creative, punk couture looks, these aren't the best (and in my opinion, creativity was key in deciding what is and what isn't best in show, and theirs weren't creative - sure they look presentable but not so daring, and definitely not at all impressive). I mean, people were wearing mohawk head pieces, wearing outrageous dresses/suits, dying their hair or even showing up in a horrifying floral print dress (that looks like a couch.. yes referring to Kim Kardashian), all of these were memorable - Cameron and Kristen's outfits were yawn-fests.

  6. Why on earth isn't Liu Wen on the list??????????

  7. In terms of punk and like you say, Queen Anne and Miley shut it down. Stunning. But I did really like Kristen Stewart and her wine-coloured jumpsuit; Christina Ricci would have been awesome too had she worn her hair differently, Cara Delevigne (whose punk outfit was completed by her new coke-nose lbr) and Coco Rocha.

The theme was pretty difficult to work with, I suppose. Three ladies who didn't stick to the theme but still looked like goddesses were Uma Thurman (green!), Katie Holmes, and Emmy Rossum. Honestly, damn.

  8. The fact that you added Madonna to your Worst List instead of Kim Kardashian worries me a little bit.

  9. What about Katy Perry?

  10. I have to say that Anna Hattaway surprised me, I rather dislike her because I think she doesn't have much personality, but this Valentino dress was a good choice!

  11. Kim Kardashian looked as if she stole her granma's curtains and cut a slit in it!And the shoes!OMG!!!I have to say that G. Palthrow wore the color pink because like Anna Wintour said that night "Pink is the color of Punk",yep you read right,Pink=Punk!S.J.Parker looked terrible as well with that headpiece that must've weighed a ton!
