Admire Couture Underwhelms

When we announced earlier this month that a certain house of 'designer' clothing was going to be made public on this day, we did not quite assume that so much could go wrong.

Admire Couture is that brand. To start things off, we noticed that many people absentmindedly forgot to come to the release party. And, without hesitation, the collection was revealed instantly when I arrived to the guestbook of MissDancer853. Mind you, I was the representative for Tyler's Top Trends and I checked into the party the moment it began.

Like any other attendee, I gathered up the little excitement I had leftover and went to view the collection for myself. I immediately stopped in my tracks when the page loaded. Carelessly, I asked myself, "Who are these young girls designing for?". I know it was not their mothers.

Feeling letdown when the clothing was exposed early, it was hard for me to view the crowd of clothing with an open mind. That is just how the world of fashion works. This was not Admire Couture's debut collection, which is why I am being so critical towards them.

The graphics have improved tremendously and everyone should acknowledge that. What we should not praise is the exposing dresses that are featured throughout the show. Many of the pieces look like a Kim Kardashian clubbing getup (sorry Kim!), rather than a must-have couture garment. Plus, what was futuristic about the attire?

The accessories line was nothing special, but there was zilch to complain about, however. We might as well give them the benefit of the doubt.

We could not help, but to wonder what other people might think about this collection, so Dei asked a couple of random Stardoll citizens the following question:

  • Hello, I'm reporting for Tyler's Top Trends about the new Admire Couture collection, and I would like to ask, what's your opinion of the brand?

To which they answered:

  • Blahm3 - I really like the clutches the most, they look more professional than the actual clothing.
  • Ciaraleanne - D:
  • AbiiBabeh..x - I think the collection was OK as a whole but some individual pieces excelled. My favourite outfit was the Grey dress with studded neckline and cuffs. I liked it as it was simple, yet daring. I also particularly liked the collection of purses and the variety of colour in them. But, well I thought the purple one was TOO tight.

Clikc here to view the rest of the collection yourself!

What are you thoughts on the line?

  2. I loved the collection. They put their all into this collection. You really shouldn't be this harsh. Its good to give your opinion, but not in such a way.

  6. If you think for one second that I was being mean, rather than truthful - than you might as well quit this game.

It is obvious that you take your designing seriously, otherwise, you would not be defending it so harshly.

I was not being mean at all. It just go to show how your temper can change from one comment to four.

The point was, would your parents let you wear these garments outside? The world of fashion is cutthroat and I am not sure you are aware of that.

You bashed your own collection and told me that I featured the weakest pieces. Which leads me to believe that you are aware of the fact that the collection itself is weak.

  7. Okay, look, my thought of it is this. I understand it the party was 'weak' but really, the party does not decide the look of the brand line, there could have been NO party, and if the line looked *fierce* then you would be okay. So please, don't blame a simple guestbook party as to why the line has gotten negative feedback.

And really, not everyone will like everything you do. We all have our own opionion, as you can see from the section where I had asked random people what they thought, two out of the three actually enjoyed it a lot, so don't get pissed at one person downing your line.

To be honest, I thought 1/2 of the line was all slutty dresses. That's my opinion. Just please, you should get upset because someone disliked it. You put it out there as 'fashion' so you need to accept that not everything you do will be the greatest thing ever nor will it be the worst, fashion doesn't mean everyone should be loving and kind about it.

So please, don't take it personally. He is just doing a review, never had Tyler said he hates everything or that it blows.

:) Besides, negative review can lead you to try harder.

  8. @Sinbabee, It's great to know that you care for you line so much that you would defend it to no end. However, it's a little pathetic that you take criticism so poorly. If you are properly prepared to be a fashion designer, even on Stardoll, you should know that not everything you release is going to get a good review. Instead of accusing people of being "mean", you should maturely and professionally take that criticism and work to do better next time. Criticism is what should fuel you, not something that should break you down to the point where you carelessly trash your own line by saying he showed the "weakest" pieces.

If you aren't prepared to handle both the good and the bad aspects of owning a fashion line then you shouldn't be in the fashion business.

  14. Tell me, if someone writing a negative review is 'just rude' or 'mean' then why in the hell are doing this?

People can state whats on their minds! Freedom of speech!

I'm sorry, but you shouldn't be making it seem like people are personally lashing out at the brand.

And, about the graphic, why do you insist on giving Mel a boob job?

  15. Dear, dear. You just released a spoiler for a line that will not be out until Fashion Week. It's because you're nervous and you're trying to redeem yourself. Well, it's sad because you just wasting the anticipation factor.

No one is twisting you words, darling. It quoted exactly what you said. And calling Dei blind, or suggesting that she may be is sick and low.

You do not want to get the people that fuel your colletion, mad. You should just stop replying befor you say something you are going to regret.

  18. Oh my gosh, girl. NO ONE IS GANGING UP ON YOU.

Its just, you are being stupid.

Why are you showing people the new line. What kind of surprise is that? Now everyone will know what to look for in the new one.

And this IS a virtual game, you're right. So why are you getting upset that someone, again, for the 100th time, STATING THEIR OPINION.

You oblivious girl, you baffle me.

  19. No one has threatened you.

Nice of you to swallow your words and delete your comments. Just remember that I saved the spoiler.

  20. We don't need to start a fuss!
I believe some negative reviews are good. It leads you on to working harder and doing the best to your abilities!

  21. I found it to be very hit and miss. The graphics were impressive, but I think perhaps for next time they should focus on the line between sexy and OTT. I found that the final 4 looks worked the best; in fact, I found them to be stunning, but there were a few others that just didn't work. Overall, though, the collection was very well made and (most importantly, in my opinion) cohesive :)

  22. Sorry but I do not like the collection, it was a disappointment, I feel like I have seen this all before.

  23. Can I just say..why is it called Admire Couture when it's a Ready-To-Wear line not a Couture Line?

    ReplyDelete
  24. The graphics are ok. I love the clutches and necklace...the white dress with the blue/orange belt is cute. (:

  25. I like the collection. It really reminds me of Balmain and Lanvin. I think that maybe you should next time have it longer with fewer styles but bigger portions. Good job though girls :)

  26. I really dislike - not hate - this line.
Not because of the graphics,(not saying that I don't like those very much either) the clothes aren't futuristic, and that was supposed to be the theme.

They just don't seem fashionable to me, more of like when a cheap spin-off of a designer bikini's line decided to do tight skinny dresses.
I favored the accessories the most. They had very good graphics and were beautiful, especially the clutches. If the next line of Admire doesn't go so well I suggest they focus more on accessories.

Lastly, the graphics were GOOD, not okay or phenomenal. They were a great improvement from the last time, but they still aren't the best and they aren't the worse. Hopefully they'll get better next time.

Sorry if I sounded negative, I'm just stating my opinion. I didn't get to attend the release party so I don't know what that was like.
I have to applaud them for their hard work on the graphics though, I know how hard it is to make something that looks good.

Overall, I give this line a 5.8 out of 10 for effort.

  27. I think this collection is very unoriginal. Most of these outfits have already been seen on the runway, and as you said none of it is futuristic! I also think the boobs are abit... no body has boobs shaped in that way whilst they have clothing on! And the accesories are so boring!

Although, I do think I would wear most of their collection and I do think you put the worst of the collection on your blog!

PS. Kim Kardahsian rarely drinks, and if you google her, alot of her clothes are nearly knee length so I dont think you should of used her as an example! Im a HUGE fan! X

  28. So many comments, but so little those what we can actually see.Who's that hiding?Seems like she can't handle the pressure.

    ReplyDelete
  29. it didnt have anything to do with the theme, it was more high street than high fashion, but theres nothing wrong with that

    ReplyDelete
  30. On the sunny-side Tyler, I looked up Kim to see if your comparison was indeed a correct one and stifled a laugh I must admit!

No I agree fully with you Tyler and have posted a review of my own on my blog.

Thanks for pointing me in the rigth direction :D
